Ready for your next step? For our Operations and Legal team, we are looking for a:

Junior Legal Counsel

As Junior Legal Counsel, you will be part of Credit Europe Bank’s operations and legal team and assist both divisions in handling all transactional and day-to-day legal matters. As Junior Legal Counsel you will also support our contracting and collateral management department (part of Division Operations) and interact with other internal stakeholders like our legal team at Credit Europe Bank. In this role you are reporting to the manager of Collateral Management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing legal advice on various transactions including general corporate lending, trade finance, syndicated lending as well as FI transactions.
  • Assisting our collateral management department with drafting of our loan documents and related (security) documents based on our templates.
  • Coordinating and managing corporate capacity checks and review and advising on corporate resolutions, powers of attorney and constitutional documents of the Bank’s customers.
  • Engaging external legal counsel where necessary and dealing with administrative issues relating to external legal counsels.
  • Assisting with administrative matters within the legal department including invoicing, documents filing, internal communication, and legal documentation management.
  • Assisting the Head of Legal in preparing legal updates, litigation and audit reporting and other managerial and administrative matters.
  • Reviewing and advising on non-financial contracts and attending to the ad hoc requests of non-business functions (such as IT, Operations) of the Bank;
  • Monitoring legal developments, jurisprudence and/or new legislation/regulations and raising internal awareness.

Personal Skills & Qualifications

  • Qualification as a lawyer to practice law in the Netherlands, England and Wales, in an EU jurisdiction or Turkey.
  • LL.M degree (or an equivalent) with a clear international focus on the banking and finance matters is a plus.
  • Between 1 to 3 years post-qualified experience at a reputable international law firm with a focus on banking & finance and/or as an in-house lawyer at an international bank or a financial institution.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of the legal aspects of corporate lending and/or trade and commodity finance, and/or FI secondary market transactions and eagerness to grow in these areas.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of LMA based loan agreements. 
  • Excellent verbal and writing skills in English. Fluency in Dutch is considered an advantage.
  • Experience in cross border transactions and dealing with multi-jurisdictional transactions.
  • Commitment, team spirit and communication skills are required qualities to progress in a stimulating environment.
